SubtractLab
Less structure, more meaning.
SubtractLab is the research and development identity of Koji Okuda, exploring subtractive design as a first principle for software, AI systems, and human-machine co-creation.
Philosophy
Addition is the default. Every framework, every platform, every solution adds layers. SubtractLab operates on the inverse premise: the most powerful systems are those that remove what isn’t needed.
This is not minimalism as aesthetic. It is minimalism as engineering discipline.
Principles
- Subtract before you add. The first question is always: what can be removed?
- Natural law over convention. Align with how things already work, rather than imposing new structure.
- When existing paths carry unnecessary burden, rebuild from zero. Starting from nothing is not waste. It is subtraction in its purest form.
- Co-creation, not consumption. AI is not a tool to be used. It is a partner in the act of creating meaning.
Projects
- 3Gravity Architecture — An AI-native semantic memory architecture inspired by the natural laws of the cosmos. It unifies storage and computation through crystallization, cluster/galaxy structure, warp navigation, and quantum-interference scoring.
- BIApps — DuckDB-based business intelligence, subtractive
- phiMovie — Automated video production pipeline
